I have a 2000 f150 with a DEI starter unit in it. Bad thing is it showed up without a transmitter and I have no idea what model this r/s is. It has Directed Electonics stamped on  the front. On the back there is the listing of wires and colors. That's it! The antenna says Directed HF Plus. There are four relays attached to the unit also. That's all I have to go on. Can anyone help me out? I'll take some pictures before I send the truck back.

there should be a 551 or 561, etc # on the brain also... i suspect you need either a 491 or 471 remote.....

There is nothing on the brain anywhere. Looks like an Avital logo above the DEI writing. I have pictures if it would help.

DEI transmitters are very universal, a 471a should work fine on anything made 2000 and up....

Is this a one-way or two-way unit?

The antenna markings mean it's a one way unit, HF says it's equal to a Clifford G5 or pre-06 Viper/Hornet. NOT the newer slimline remotes.

Customer dropped off a transmitter that he thinks is the one from this truck. It does nothing! Are there any transmitter programming instructions on this? I have no way to tell if this is the right remote. It's the size of a zippo lighter with the lock/unlock buttons on the left and the stop-start-trunk buttons down the center. Blue/black checkerplate in color.  Could this really be the right remote?
