Hey all,
I am looking to put 2 12's into my jetta. i was thinking about getting the 08 alpine type x 12's(they have dual 4 ohm voice coils), but i just want to know what type of amp(s) i need. i am a do-it-yourselfer just looking to show off some subs. i just want to keep it all under $3000. can anyone reccomend an amp for me

You have a couple choices. A 1 ohm stable mono amp to run the pair or 2 2ohm stable mono blocks. 1 per sub. You could use a 2 or a 4 channel but watts for dollars i dont think that would suit you as well. Just do some looking. There are plenty of amps that will fit the bill.

i want to get 2 1000w alpine v-power amps to power two alpine type X 12's(1000w rms). would this work or is 1000w the peak power of the amp?

If you are refering to the Alpine MRP-M1000 it is 1000rms @ 2 ohm. So yes 2 two of those, 1 per sub would be a perfect match.

I highly doubt the Jetta's factory electrical can handle 2000 real watts
