lol..click on the link, the one you sent... and you'll the comparison graph or the sealed vs ported.
Which do you think sounds better though..ported or sealed? Do you prefer one over the other on specific occasions?
Look twice, think thrice, 1 splice/ 1 slice!
This is a phrase i came up with and something i will now live by.

Use a sealed enclosure if the EBP of the loudspeaker is 50 or less.  Use a vented enclosure if it is 90 or greater.  If it is between 50 and 90 it can be used in either alignment but should be modeled to determine what works best.

In general (and this is not always true) a ported enclosure is more efficient and can generate higher peak dbSPL than sealed with the same driver, but will be larger and less accurate and produce more distortion than sealed.

let me first say That I stand corrected by aznboi3644.  In the area I live in I dont get a chance to hear a well tuned ported or slotted box.  As far as the information I came by and hearing some other over the counter ported boxes  it would seem to me from what i hear is ported and slotted and bandpass boxes are boomie.  and sealed are tighter sounding, now it could be just the speakers that I have used in the past.  Ex kicker  comps in the same box sounded a litter boomier than the current mb quart subs that i currently have in a purchased over the counter box.  When In fact I begin to make my own enclousers I can test this further.  But thank You for correcting me.  Peace out.

dyohn my brother i like the way you think ported are more efficent and can generate higher spl no doubt.  but I like the more accurate sound of the sealed enclouser,  If you want high spl and dont mind the boomie sound thats cool but i like my bass tight.  Peace Out.

all prefab bandpass enclosures sound like crap...bandpass enclosures are VERY picky in the chamber volumes and tuning. Prefab bandpasses are to small and tuned 50Hz or higher...mucho crapo.
Its not just the subwoofers you use that you hear the boominess...its the enclosures. If you want a good enclosure design PM me. Then you'll fall in love with ported.
