I had no idea the ignition cost on a Monte Carlo. they are a bit more costly on an Impala.  Is that 110 including rekeying the new Ignition to your existing key?

ah see this is why i do the whole forum thing.. it never occured to me that i would have to pay for new keys.  i'm pretty positive that was 110 w/o keys.

80 is a much better deal than 150-200!!!!   just about any locksmith can do this?

Our shop is a few miles from the oldest locksmith shop in town, we had an ignition fail on a customers car in our parking lot.  We called the dealer for him and they quoted 400 dollars including the wrecker ride to the dealer.  A whopping 3 miles.  I then called the locksmith and before I could finish, they said if you bring me the key and the cylinder, 80 dollars plus tax, I then asked can we get it back today, he replied you can get it in an hour.  I brought it, went eat and picked it up.  I have no idea if any locksmith can do it.  But I am sure you can find one that can.  Just call around, it is a common problem.   I think the dealership's ignition will come with keys, they just will not be the same as the keys for your doors.  You will have 2 keys for your car.
