Good afternoon ,
          i have a friend who just got a 2005 Mercedes slk 350.he wants to remove factory head unit and replace with a pioneer avic-z1. metra makes mounting kit and antenna adaptor for this vehicle. does anyone know a company that makes a wiring harness for this vehicle? i do not know yet wether it has harmon-kardon head unit.do i need any type of can or data bus modules?

There are several Mercedes vehicles that use a Fiber Optic interface between the deck and the factory amplifier.  The factory amp contains active crossovers.  If this vehecle is such an animal, this will be possible, but probably not practical.  You will have to bypass the factory amplifier and install capacitors and coils on all speakers.  It will work but will not sound as good as it did before.
