Do you have any advice for a guy starting a new shop?  Also do you have any recommendations for a particular brand of powersupply for the demo room.

Thanks

My advice is that you have enough bank to cover a year of no profits. A lot of newbies think that as soon as you open up your a millionare, it takes a lot of time and dedication just to pull in a profit. Advertising is the key to a successful shop!
Good Luck!!

Consult an accountant to set up your books and have all of your tax licenses in place ahead of time. Also find out how to register your company name in your state and think about an accounting program. Kind of egghead stuff but too many people forget these basics and get caught with their pants down.
Invest in advertising! Mailers or sale rags are a great way to start but get your name out there any way you can (even doing jobs for high profile clients at cost)it pays off in the long run.

I have started my own car stereo shop and it is a lot of work. You will work alot more hours than you think you will have to,and you will have to spend alot more money than you think you have to. Be sure that you have all your ducks in a row. Advertising is alot of a buisness but so is the installations and being honest with the customers. You will find out that some of your best advertising is word of mouth. Good luck with you new endevor! Brian
