hifonics amp problems

You can not check to see if your power wire is OK without having something trying to pull current through the wire.   No load = no current draw, no current draw = NO voltage drop.  You can connect a 100 ohm resistor in series with a wire and with no load on that wire, the voltage will still read what the voltage is at the battery.  (If using a digital volt meter)  So checking voltage on a wire that has no load on it, is useless.

You allmost have your own problem solved. You said it yourself you had 8 volts and unhooked had normal voltage. You should Google Voltage drop testing and I am very confident you will figure it out fast. when you take the load of a circuit the resistance( or bad connection) wont matter you will read full voltage. Learn voltage drop tesing it will get you where you need to go

ok guys. well my other friend who was helping us is a little slow apparently... he was the one who checked the power cable on the battery and said it was good. i personally checked it and it slipped right out of the ring terminal. wow right? so i crimped a new one and everything works great. lol thanks for all your help guys.-ETS-
