Hey all I've got a strange one for you:
I've had a clifford Intelliguard 6000 running beautifully in my 97 Prelude for a little over 2 years (With an aftermarket trunk pop, also working fine) Seemingly out of the blue, the alarm will not arm, giving me the 4 chirp error message with the 5 LED flash trigger indicator which i read as the trunk/hood trigger being active.
This is what I have already checked:
Trunk latch switch: This thing is a flaky design and used to randomly tell me that the trunk is open. (the dashboard trunk ajar indicator would light up). Talked to a honda tech and he told me how to clean the contacts, which I did and everything worked fine for a few weeks.
Tested the signal from the gray / YELLOW wire leading to the dash indicator. 0v when trunk closed, ~.4v when open.
Disconnected the trunk circuit entirely, alarm still does not arm.
Hood switch never worked, but I disconnected that as well just in case. Still gives me 5 flashes.
Reseated the main harness connector, still no.
Is there something else that the 5 flash code indicates in addition to the trunk/hood?
Was there some kind of electrical damage done to the control unit when the trunk switch was flaky?
I'm thinking that the brain must have been damaged somehow. I know that the intelliguard 6000 is pretty old, but is the harness the same for the newer clifford models? (I'd love a drop in replacement)
Thanks for the help.

Try disconnecting the unit for 5 mins, also new units are not drop in replacements, the looms and colours are completely different and the new units (in my opinion) aren't as well made.

Will do.
Interesting. Is it worth it to look for one in the same series used somewhere? (I assume that even if the new models have different harnesses that other units made about the same time would)

Possibly but try and get yours working first they were fabulous units, I just remembered it was the basis for the Avant Guard lV, surely the best unit to come out of the Clifford stable before the (much lamented) takeover.

No luck with my 6000. I even grounded the trunk trigger directly and the unit still gives me the 5 flash error.
what's next to try?
