Hey guys. First time posting, but have been lurking around these forums for a few years now. These forums are great.

I am currently installing a Viper 5901 on my brothers 2001 Ford F150. Everything is hooked up and works like it should except for one thing. If I remote start the truck while the alarm is armed, the truck will start, siren goes off, and the engine shuts off. If I remote start when the alarm is disarmed, the remote start works like it should. I am not sure what is causing the alarm to trigger when it is remote started.

The truck does not have a factory alarm, so I did not connet the H2 Factory Disarm wires. Could this is the reason the alarm goes off?? or is it normal for the remote start to work only when disarmed? Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

did you install a starter kill relay?

how did you wire the violet and green wires from the main harness, if you cut the starter wire in the truck, violet will go to starter side and green will go to key side

I cut the trucks RED / Lt. Blue Starter wire in half. Connected the Violet wire to the starter side of the wire, and the Green wire to the key side. I double checked this tonight.

The truck remote starts and runs like it should only when the alarm is disarmed.

Is there a yellow ignition stand-off wire on the 5901 and have you connected it to ign 1?

Correction to my last post, pink (heavy) on 5901 MUST go to ignition 1; i.e. the ignition lead that stays live whilst cranking. If you have two that do that, you're on the wrong one.
