2006 chevy silverado remote start problem

Ok I have a 2006 Chevy silverado and i recently installed a viper 791xv remote start/alarm. I have everything working except the remote start itself. When i try and start my truck using the remote and it starts and dies right away. I checked all of my conections and all are ok. I have 2 bypasses connected. One is for my door lock interface and one for the actual remot start. I dont know if both of these are necessary. The bypass i have on my door lock interface is DB-GMDL-BP and the bypass i have for the remote start is 555L. The install gude i have said both of these would work but to me my factory alarm is killing my truck from starting. I can start my truck with the key and everything works fine. No security lights at all. I need to use vehicle platform 4 and the DB-GMDL-BP is set right. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Need all the help!!mitch

if you have both connected and working correctly there may be a conflict in the passlock since, the gmdlbp does locks and bypass, and your also doing bypass via 555l remove the 555l and try gmdlbp by itself

I tried that and it still does the same thing. It starts then dies real fast.mitch

Did you connect the tach wire? I had same issue with a 2009 H3 and a 2009 Wrangler.. Bypasses were programmed correctly and it remote started but just shut down after a few seconds.. After I hooked up the tach both vehicles stayed started.

Definitely get rid of the 555L---the GMDLBP is expensive, but for good reason---it takes care of everything. You should have, from GMDLBP: red to constant power black to ground brown to blue or blue/white from Viper purple to purple at truck's OBDII port (You'll surely want to connect the doorlocks and panic wires, but the remote start would work without them.) And as tbird 2340 said, it won't work without either connecting and programming tach, or at least setting the unit to voltage sensing mode. I like to get the tach wire behind the instrument cluster---it's only four screws, and it's the only white wire in the harness. And you still have to "learn" the tach rate to the unit: Start engine, push and hold valet switch, and watch for LED to come on steady. If you get no LED, you're not on the correct tach wire. If you prefer not to connect tach, go into the Viper's programming, set it for Voltage Sensing, and turn the crank time to at least 1.6 seconds, or even 2.0 seconds---the truck is designed so that it can't overcrank even if you try.
