Hey guys I'm going to install a remote start in a 2005 jeep wrangler and i'm trying to figure out if this vehicle needs a bypass. I've searched on the forum and nobody seems to have created a topic on this before, anyone have any info? I'm thinking about the Avital 4111L, which seems to work with xpresskit. Any info is appreciated...
I didn't do it. *nodnod*

my wiring charts say no bypass required. You will need one if its a wrangler-tj though.

well wikipedia says TJ models go from 97 to 2006 and this one is an 05, so do you know what type of security it has or which bypass would I need?

Bulldog Security has this listing for the 2005 Jeep Wrangler:    CHRYSLER'S SENTRY ANTI-THEFT TRANSPONDER System (GRAY IGNITION KEY ONLY)

You could open the area around the IGN switch and look for the antenna (SKIM) and associated wiring.  You could have a plain key made at a hardware store for $1.50 and see if it will start the Jeep.

If it does need a bypass, my suggestion would be the iDatalink ADS-TB with the ADS-TB-CH6 firmware.  Easy to install & program, you won't loose a key and not affected by cold weather or antenna position.

Soldering is fun!

BTW i know it doesn't have a Sentry system in it, would that be the only possibility for factory security?

if you have a grey key you need a bypass and the ads-tb kreg357 suggested would be the best option. if your key is black or just plain solid metal you dont need the bypass. with this info it should take you less than 3 seconds to tell if you need it or not
