I have 2 different subs I'd like to use, both oldschool: Soundstream spl160 (15") and a boston acoustics 10.4lf (10").  I'm using win isd to design a box to decide which one to use.  My issue is that the 10.4lf in a 1.5 CuF vented box has close to the same response curve and -3db point as the spl160 in a 3.7 CuF vented box.

Am I missing something by going with the boston as opposed to the spl160?  Space is somewhat at a premium, otherwise I'd go with the spl in a 4.7CuF box with a -3db @ 30hz).

Any insight or opinion on this is appreciated!

some subs just perform better in a bigger or smaller box. its the whole reason why box calculators exist in the first place. if every sub performed the same in similar sized enclosures it would just take all the fun out of it.

I just didn't know if the 15 would hit "harder" or if the 10 would sound the same, but not be able to feel it.

You say that the 4.7 cu ft box with the Soundstream 15 yields a F3 at 30 Hz.  At 3.7 cu ft, the model is similar to the 10" Boston (in the much smaller box).  Question:  what is the F3 there?

Add some info to this thread and some of us can look at it with you.  T/S param.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
