Looking to put in a remote start, 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7.  Automatic.

If I go aftermarket (I have a new Ultra Start in the box), what module is the best to use?  I went to Directed's site, and it's confusing and calling up several modules.  I have a new module from a 2002  Dakota, but I think it's different architecture.

Chrysler dealer tells me the factory Mopar kit requires a scantool to activate - anybody know if this is true?  I thought that was only for 2008 and newer.

Thanks all for the help!

An easy way to do this vehicle is with an iDatalink module.  Here is a link to the iDatalink Web site :  http://www.idatalink.com/helpdesk/   Check out the ADS ALSL CH module and its' install guide.  It does a lot with very few connections to the Jeep.

Soldering is fun!

go with idatalink all the way. 1 key to program with idatalink.  I have used the DLPKCHG2 on these but you need 2 keys to program the bypass.  The worst part of doing remote start on these jeeps is getting at the ignition harness
