How many mA will a Clifford Cyber3 supply on its LED output wire? I want to add some LEDs to the outside of the car but I don't want to burn out the brain.

i could not find the cyber 3 info but the cyber 4 is 300ma. when in doubt put meter on it if you run more than on led you might need a relay

Wouldn't a meter just tell me how many mA the brain is supplying, rather than how many mA it can safely supply? I haven't measured it yet, but I'm thinking that a Clifford LED will require a bit more than your average red LED (as it appears to be bigger than most). Am I correct?

the physical size of an led is not necessarily related to the current draw....it could just have a larger cap on the top of it for fitament reasons....better off using a relay, and as a suggestion I would get a flashing relay like for a turn signal or something that is designed to cycle on and off many times....

How many times could a relay flash on and off, before it became a concern to my battery? I measured a normal SPST relay, 133mA. I'm not sure how many amps my battery is capable of putting out. There's probably an equation for this, heh?

EDIT: Sorry, my ascii art sucks. I wanted to say that a transistor is better than a relay

OK. Try this:
If you get 12 volts Leds, the 1K resistors are not needed. The transistor should be at least 1 amp. You can add more leds depending on how much current they draw.
