Amps put out more power when ran in mono.  Normally you can use it to get the most power out of your setup.

What kind of subs are you using (single or dual voice coil) and how many ohms are they, and what kind of amp.

I plan on running two comp vr's (10" dual voice coil) off of a kicker kx 400.2.....do you get better sound imaging off of stereo or bridged mono?

I don't think there will be a difference between the two as far as sound imaging.  I prefer running amps in mono if you can match it to the load correctly.  That way you get the most power out of your amp.
