i was wanting to know which was a better all around sub between the mtx 8000 and the phoenix gold titanium series. i'm looking for one sub to do the trick in a slot ported box in the trunk of a contour with pretty good sq.

The PG will give you better SQ, the MTX will put out more SPL and can take a beating.  But if I had to choose between the two I would go with the 8000.

i think the pg will be your best chose is you only have the 2 to chose from i would look around at some other subs too and do some shopping for the best price as well as the best sub good luck and have fun with your project.

the new Titaniums get pretty loud actually...and they can take a fair amount of power as well...
I would spend my money on the PGs if I were forced to choose out of the two...I have owned 8000s and was thoroughly disappointed...poor SQ, poor SPL level, but you can feed them alot of power...
is there a reason that you are limited to just these 2 subs? if you give me a price range I can maybe point you in a better direction overall...
