Not answering your relay question, nor knowing the standby or load current of the linked remote...
I just wanted to say we all seem to understand the issue.
But getting down to practical solutions - and "safe" solutions ie, the "active override"...
I think awdeclipse has nailed it. Cheap! Far cheaper (and easier LOL!) than any other realistic or idealistic options mentioned.
I like it!
We have imparted the riot act, but now we have IMO a practical & reasonable solution.
FYI - from a practical POV, the smoking weed should slow him down as a driver, but excess "stoning" gets quite hazardous. And if mixing with other drugs - especially alcohol... oh boy! Not good!
NOTE: The above is solely attributed to OldSpark and in no way reflects the opinions of this site nor the legalities of various regions. OldSpark's comment was merely intended as a possible preference for an "intoxicated driving state" compared to alcohol and prescription and other drugs based on various scientific and other valid testing much of which is now difficult to source but may be invalid due to newer strengths and diets.

I think most of us have "been there, done that" with kids of a certain age, I wish you and your partner all the best.
Take the remote output as a neg, i.e. NEG output to relay 85.
Fuel pump fuse side to 87a.
Constant or ignition, fused input to 86 and 87.
To Fuel pump from 30.

LOL! I was going to reply "typical Howie information: Succinct and brilliant!".
Then I thought maybe that in a PM instead...
If you think I am saying your are a slow driving dope, no, that was not intended. (Ha ha??)
But I was making a politically unpopular statement of fact. That is somewhat supported in our roadside random Booze (alcohol) and Drug mobile testing stations.
Get busted for driving with 0.05% alcohol (0.5 per mil) and it's an instant loss of license for 6 months, plus 1 month per 0.01% over 0.05%, plus big fines, mandatory courses, and a breath-checker fitted to your vehicle if you ever regain your license.
If you are caught with dope (marijuana) in your system, you make alternate arrangements to get home, cop a $300 fine, and pick up your vehicle when straight. That's for the first offence, but IMO not bad for a "dangerous drug"(sic) like marijuana.

Just thinking that here the insurance companies heavily penalise young drivers financially.
But some will install a tracker with starter cut which monitors speed, pitch, yaw etc to see if there's any wild acceleration/deceleration PLUS starter cut, if you're naughty you don't drive AND you're penalised financially.
And a time curfew, thus if you are"good" and responsible, you pay far less in insurance.

The funny thing about that remote is I found a link to the website selling it while browsing the modified powerwheels forum.
A parent was not appreciative of their son driving down to the neighbors when he pleased on his "faster" 24v powerwheels. So mom and dad had a way to keep it remotely disabled.
Same scenario, just a 16 year old and a V6 mustang.

A nice example of lateral (out of the box) thinking.
