Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my speakers in my 1998 lexus es300 with something that has some power to it.
I was hoping for some suggestions on some high quality speaker component sets that I could then look into. Maximum per set is $500.00
Also some suggestions on some a reliable amplifier to power them.
I am not looking to upgrade to a subwoofer currently so I would like to have speakers that provide a decent bass output.
Thanks
DYohn

Grab your favorite CD and go shopping.  Buy what you think sounds good.  As far as an amp, get the best quality amp you can afford, avoid off-brands, and install it properly or have it installed.  Be sure to set aside at least 10% of your budget for wiring and fuses.

its very hard to go wrong with an alpine amplifier. they are expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. if you plan on installing this stuff yourself then be warned that your car is not the easiest to work on and also keep in mind that a professional install is just as important as the quality of the equipment you buy.
as DYohn said, take some of your favorite music to your local shops and listen to some different components because everybody has their own definition of what sounds good to them. with a budget of $500 a set you should be able to get something nice. CDT, Focal, Diamond, morel, are all some very high quality brands to check out.

I would, if I was you go with JL components and a Jl audio amp. They are all solid, have great mid's and highs, and they rarely have problems. You can find a good set for around 500.00 or less, shop around online too just make sure they are a certified dealer.
good luck!
