Alright fellas,

I'm looking to install an Avital 4103 on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has an inbuilt immobiliser/alarm but I have a DEI 455T module to bypass this during remote start. Having seen the amount of trouble people on this forum have installing one, I was wondering what sort of money I should expect to pay for it to be installed. A rough figure is fine, all I need is lock/unlock, and remote start - no fancy features. I'm pretty good with car electrics but it's getting COLD at the weekends, and my garage isn't heated, plus I would rather have the backup from a pro like Howie install it.  Unfortunately he won't be - he is in England, I'm in Ireland - but there are a good few decent autosparks around here who would do it.

Before I start ringing round and getting quotes from every man and his dog, What Would Howie Say?

About £150.
The 455T won't get past the immobiliser.

That seems reasonable enough... and trust me, the 455T get's past the immobiliser just fine - it's already in there as I got fed up having to hit the "unlock" button on the remote before I could start it again, every 30 seconds after turning it off!

Cheers!

You could probably add £50 for a shop, especially if they aren't experienced.

Hmm, would need to give them a ring, I assumed the £150 was to cover overheads like a shop, or the inconvenience of a mobile installer coming out in a van, in the cold. Still, suppose they have to earn a wage like everybody else...
