remote key bypass now keys don't work

I did the easiest thing first and added a diode. Apparently the relay circuit that was also on the GWR wire was causing the problem even though the voltages were correct when I metered it. Must have been just enough of a change to enable the 556c all the time and prevent key starting. It now works fine. I want to thank you all for taking the time to help me on this, especially on a NFL playoff night :-). Its people like you and boards like this that make the internet so useful as a resource for the cash strapped do it yourselfer.

Mount Horeb, 10 miles west of Madison. I am an elevator tech with an electrical engineering background so the troubleshooting was fun. It was the cold garage, bad knees and the Flak from my wife when her Christmas gift wasn't working that was causing the stress. I don't know how people twist like that all day.
