I am installing a viper 550 with remote start on a 2003 Chevy Silverdo 2500 3/4 ton 4 door crew cab with a duramax diesel engine. I need help with 3 things. 1: I need a wiring diagram specifically for this 4door deisel truck. 2: I need specific instructions on how to bypass the passlock system, as I have never installed a remote start in which I had to bypass a passlock system. 3: I need any special instrucions on remote starting a deisel engine. I'm thinking (but not positive) that I dont have to worry about anything because with these new durmax diesel engines, you dont have to let the glow plugs warm up. You can get right in and start it up just like a gasoline engine, even if the truck has been sitting overnight.
I've done remote starts on many chevy trucks, but all of them being either a 97 or older. How much more involved willl this 2003 be?? Is the wiring pretty much the same??? If not, please inform me exactly what has changed.   Thanks

Also, I've heard that this truck has a databus system (like the trailblazers and envoys) . Will I need any special modules for the keyless entry? I'm installing a viper 550 with remote start, and keyless entry.

First your going to need a bypass kit from bypasskits.com. These trucks have a data bus and without it you will need to relay evrey door. You can also get your passlock bypass from there too. Basicly you just wire it following the instructions included, after you wire it in just start your truck with the key and that all you have to do. Now about the diesel. If you don't need to wait for the glow plugs to warm up your fine. Just find a good tach and wire your tach wire to it.

Notes:

NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. The passlock II wire colors are yellow, black, and RED / white (not used).  *1 The BCM (Body Control Module) is under the driver side dash.  *2 If Directed module part #456G is not available, refer to directfax document #1601.  On base model trucks the lock wire is lt. blue (-) and unlock wire is white (-). They are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM.  *3 On base model trucks the door trigger wires are in the lt. blue plug at the BCM. On 4dr trucks the LR door trigger is lt. blue/black, and the RR is lt. GREEN/ black. They are in the purple plug at the BCM. Use all wires and diode isolate.

THANKS!!!! One more qwestion. If I have trouble finding a good tach wire, can I just take the tach signal wire and wrap it several coils around a spark plug wire and secure it there with a zip tie? I've used this method once before a while back, but I cant fully remember if the alarm was set up to do it like that.
