I am attempting to install the DSM250 in my car. I have a 5X03 box and am not sure if I'm not connecting it correctly or something else is wrong. I don't believe I have a bit writer port on the box so do I connect the brown 4 pin 3 wire connector to the brown port next to large 12 pin harness? When I plug in the white four pin four wire connector of the DSM in there I don't get module communication but the orange LED flashes quickly then slowly and then quickly again. When I plug the brown connector of the DSM into the brown port on the box I get a solid green led and the orange just does the same cycle. If I use the brown connector am I supposed to cut either of the looms? I just need a solid orange led and I can activate it from there. All functions of the alarm operate as designed up to this point. Thanks for any and all help

What make is the 5X03? Any thing from DEI after 07 on should have a bitwriter port, either use that (black 3 pin) or read the instructions very carefully.
Only connect the SS250 after everything else is installed and correctly tested.
Test before boxing up.

Use the brown connector on the dsm250 in the red D2D port. Also connect the power and ground in the separate 2 wire harness. You will also need a directechs.com login to set up the dsm250 after install.

Blanx, if you use the brown connector don't you also have to ground a gray wire on a short lead from the 250?
Personally I find it far easier to as you say connect power and ground but I use the 3 pin into the bitwriter port, far easier.
You're quite correct though about the log-in.
Test before boxing up.
