It does have single coil and I have the lead connected there. The tach wire is RED / black.
Vento is the European version of Jetta. VW Golf is also very popular in the US.

It's been called Jetta, Vento and Bora in Europe but the sedan versions of Golfs and Ford Focus never sold much in Europe.
I don't think it's RED / black, turn on the ignition, if that wire measures 12VDC+ you've got the wrong side of the coil!
Look for the - (NEG) terminal.

Definitely green at the coil on 4 cylinder models.
Could be the answer to your problem.

No green wire at the coil. There are 2 black wires which look like 12 Ga and a RED / black 18 or 20 Ga which is what I connected to. I also tested this wire running the car and it shows 3.5 volts AC which is within the range it should be.
