Remote Starter Problems

Need the make , model, year of the car and also the remote starter that you installed.

Its a 95 accord ex sedan. The model of the module i dont remember i threw away the box. and yeah i do have a hood pin but i have the hood close when im trying to solve the problem? i hope you guys can help? thanks =)

Make sure that there is not a short on the brake light wire or a burned out bulb. This may cause some trace power going to the brake wire and will shut down the system.

MAKE SURE THAT IT IS ACTUALLY THE ALARM! TRY TURNING ON THE CAR WITH JUST YOUR KEYS. REASON BEING IS BECAUSE I HAVE A 95 HONDA ACCORD EX AS WELL, I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND THOUGHT THAT IT WAS THE ALARM. I TRIED A BRAND NEW ALARM IN IT AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED IT WOULD TURN OFF AFTER 2 SECONDS. WELL CHECKING DEEP INTO IT, THE ACTUALL PROBLEM WAS THE MODULE BEHIND THE KEY SWITCH THAT WENT BAD. THE PART COST ME ABOUT $60. NOW IN YOUR CASE IT STILL COULD BE THE ALARM BUT LIKE I SAID I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IF IT IS THAT THE MODULE IS BAD YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE COVER OFF THE STERRING COLUM AND THERE IS TWO BOLTS THAT HAVE NO FLAT HEAD OR PHILIPS. WHAT I DID WAS GRABBED A SMALL TOOTH BLADE FOR CUTTING METAL AND MADE A DEEP CUT TO GET A FLAT HEAD IN THERE AND UNSCREW THEM. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE OFF THE POWER TO THE BATTERY BEFORE ATTEMPING TO DO THIS IF INFACT YOU HAVE NOT FOUND THE PROBLEM WITHIN THE INSTALLATION OF THE ALARM, OR ACTUALL ALARM ITSELF. THE PIECE IS ROUND AT ONE END. THOUGHT I WOULD RELAY THIS INFO JUST INCASE. HOPE MAYBE IT IS SOMETHING MORE SIMPLE. "REMEMBER THOUGH IF THE CAR STARTS WITH THE KEY THEN WHAT I TOLD YOU IS NOT THE PROBLEM." MAKE SURE THE PIN HAS A GOOD CONECTION AND GOOD GROUND AS WELL. HOPE THIS MAY HAVE HELPED A LITTLE AS THIS ROOM HELPS ME A LOT, JUST WANT TO TRY TO RETURN THE FAVOR.

FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I HAVE THAT PART NUMBER IF YOU NEED IT.

Depending on the system that you are using, you MUST attach the vehicles ACCESSORY input wire so that the system knows that the car has started otherwise if it does not know that the car started it will shut down in protection mode.

Did your remote start system require a connection with the tachometer wire? If so, the remote start probably needs to be programmed to recognize when your car is running at idle speed. If it's set too high by default or if the tach wire isn't hooked up, the remote starter might think there's a problem and could be shutting itself down.
