I am at the point where I need to install the alarm/keyless entry for my car since I am tired of reaching through the wing windows to open the doors.
I am very good with cars, including wiring, but know very little about purchasing/quality of the actual alarm systems, and would greatly appreciate some advice about which one to buy and what modules/upgrades etc. would be necessary.
The car: 1965 GTO convertible, no door handles - solenoids are installed and locks are not used.
What I am hoping for:
  • Push one button to open drive door, another button to open passenger door
  • 2 way communication, key fobs AND Smartphone
  • Tilt sensor
  • Glass break sensor
  • Siren
  • proximity alarm
  • Remote start
  • Visible lighted alarm indicator
  • (MAYBE) Voice announcements?

Is the engine fuel injected? Are there power door lock motors installed it the doors? Are they 2 wire or 5 wire ? As far as brands are concerned anything from a reputable company will last a lifetime. It comes down to the remote design that YOU like. Brands like Clifford,Viper,Python or Prestige or Code Alarm or Compustar are what I have used in the past and would recommend any of them.

The 3305v is not a remote start. Other than that that's a great security system there. Now it will only be effective if installed properly.

I would skip the voice module. A shock sensor is included the 3305. I would do a battery backup up for the alarm not the siren. Dei model number 520t.

Thanks. I decide I don't need remote start because the car is 1965 and carbureted.
The alarm will be installed in a locked battery box in the trunk. It is an Optima so no off-gassing.
