Alpijne PDX-f6 Prpblems

I am having problem with one of my amps going in to protect mode. i have put all new interior in my old f-150 including gutting the old system and installing mostly all new. The amp is going into protect mode and shutting down. the power according to the cap has never went below 14 volt. I had it grounded to an old seat belt bolt at first that was about 18 inch away from the amp. I moved the ground to a new location about 10 inch away and still have the same problem.and thought that was the problem. I have done the big 4 upgrade, removed paint from all grounds, 1 awg. wire every where except for 4 awg. going to the amp from the distribution block. if any one could think of something I should try let me know.gordonl

This is in a 1997 Ford F-150 extra cab. Alpine PDX-F6 and a PDX-M12 with 2 SWR-1242d subs and in the doors are 2 sets of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5 componentsgordonl

Remove 3 of the rca cables and play only 1 channel at a time. Play each channel by itself and see if it shuts down on 1 of them.

I will try that. After reading other post about the same issue i have tried there suggestions and have found that the crossover going to the componets in the rear are bad. i am going to bypaass them and the tweet and run right to the 6.5 in Infinity. I will let you know later. i let the truck run with all the speakers disconnected at about 80 percent power for ten min and it never shut off.gordonl

does not seem to be any one particular channel that does it. When I set the gains I set the stereo to 38 on the volume and it tends to shut down around 36. the rear crossovers going to the tweeters are fried but the mids are playing fine. I a still wondering about the ground. when I did the big 4 upgrade the main chasis ground is on the firewall. Both amps I have are grounded in the back king cab, mono (which I still need to see if it works ok) to the seat belt bolt , and 4 channel to the back wall under the window. I am going to throw the subs in tonight and take her for a putt.gordonl

Shorted tweeters or defective crossover could definitely be your problem.

After driving a few miles and a music genre change it sounds great. just not loud enough. I have an XS Power battery to install and I might check out a new head unit. The one in there was $99 dollars 10 years ago. At least I know it is not the amps. Thanks for the help it is good just to bounce things off others. Next I am adding a battery back up an a hood pin switch to my tool box to a viper 3305v.gordonl
