Installing Speakers

I am trying to add two speakers to my existing sound system and im short on cash so im trying to do it myself. Where do i run my wires to and do i have to take the HU off?

Need some more info on your current setup.  What year/make/model vehicle do you have, and what kind of equipment is in there right now?  And what speakers are you trying to add on?Ethan

I have a 1995 buick century..I am just adding two 6x9 for extra sound..I have them in the boxes and everything but im stumped on where to run the wires.   Im not sure whether to splice the wires into the back speakers or somehow run them up into the HU.

You're turning a 4 speaker system into a 6 speaker one . . . interesting.  Ideally, you would invest in a small amplifier, but this can be done without one.  By splicing your new ones into the wires on the current back speakers you should be ok.  What that creates is 2 speakers on each channel wired in parallel.  Assuming they're all 4 Ohm speakers, that will lower the resistance to 2 Ohms.  Since the resistance is lower, the HU will put out higher current and all of your speakers should have about the same amount of power.  The tradeoff is that your HU will run a little hotter, but you should be ok.Good luck.

Thanks..just did that and it sounds great..it is a little quieter like you said but not by much
