The check engine light is on. My mechanic said it was the O2 sensor. I changed it and reset the light but it came back on. I need to know which wires to jump on the test connector under the dash to get the dash light to blink the trouble codes.

The car has a 4 cylinder engine, and there are about 5 or 6 wires on the test conn. The repair manual for the car says to groung two wires but the connector on my car doesn't look like the one in the manual. There aren't any wires in those positions on the conn. that the book says. Any suggestions?

Do you know if the test connector is rectangle or oval?

If it's 12 pin (OBDI) try this. If it's 16 pin (OBDII) DON'T try this.

You want to jumper pins A and B. That should be the two upper right pins as you look at the plug.

1. With power off, jumper pin A to pin B
2. Turn the ignition to ON but DO NOT start the vehicle.
3. The Service Engine Soon (SES) light should flash code 12 (1 flash, pause, 2 quick flashes)
4. After a longer pause, code 12 should repeat two more times.
5. If there are any codes stored in the ECM they will follow Code 12.
6. If no other codes have been stored then Code 12 will continue to repeat until the jumper is disconnected.

Once you extract your codes go to this site to see what it is.

http://www.iequus.com/manuals/gmcre.pdf

Just read the whole thing because It dosn't list your car, but as long as it's 12 pin this will work.

Let me know how you make out.
