Was advised to post my question here so here I ask..

2007 Silverado Classic came with a Compustar CM4200-VD installed but never fully hooked up and at the most maybe had remote start wired.

I picked up a iDatalink ADS-DLSL GM1 to handle the door locks etx and anything else needed. I handled the VATS situation in another manner so that is out of the question too.

Now I found the manual for the CM4200 here (https://www.staub.ca/pdf/manuals/12v/cm4200-cm1000s-short.pdf) and one of the things it says on PG 1 is that if you plan to use CN7 its not recommended for 1 or 2 way datalink connections.

So does this mean the iDatalink I bought can't be used? Or what is the best means to get this all working properly?

You can still use the bypass module. Every needed function would be "hardwired".

You would run the R/S Lock wire to the bypass as an input and the OBD2 J1850 wire from the bypass to the truck, etc.

Soldering is fun!

Yah maybe should have worded better.. was just hoping to use the data cable. Too much conflicting information so probably just going to go the hardwire route.
