I have an AstroStart MV installed in a 1997 Honda Accord around 20 years ago or so. The system does not respond to anything and has the red LED blinking twice then pause, which I take to mean error code 2, Ground Fault, Brake pressed, or outputs overloaded. It only does this when the vehicle is off. The LED is out when the key is switched on and then blinks rapidly with the car running. I checked the black ground wire P2-11, seems fine screwed to the kick panel and not rusty. I don't get any voltage on the brake in P2-4 to ground even when pressing the brake, not sure if that is how to test it though. Don't know how to test outputs for overloading. One thing that crossed my mind is that electrolytic capacitors tend to last around 20 years or so. I am wondering if maybe the four on the PCB have dried out and this could cause the problem. Thanks for any advice.

Update, I took the car to an installer and their opinion is that the computer is dead. That's kind of what I was thinking.
I may see about replacing the electrolytic caps. I've had luck with doing that on old electronics.
Otherwise the only cost effective thing for this car is going to be if I can find an identical unit. If anyone has any ideas where to find one I'd appreciate it. My only thought is eBay. Thanks.

Changed the caps, four of them and no dice. Still two blink error code. Looking for a new black box unit.
