no I have a 4 guage wire running to the distribution block from the battery. From the block i have 8 guage running to the two PPIs and 14 g wire running to the crossover and epicenter, and they are all grounded in the same place.

It sounds like you have ashort somewhere after the block. Do look into replacing/upgrading the 8GA to 4, and making sure it is properly fused. I'm not sur ethat that amp could pull enough current to melt the 8, but it is possible, and/or/ the wire is just run in a bad spot. Try replacing it (4 or 8) and using wire loom on any questionable spots. Check with a multimeter (if you have it) to make sure that the wire isn't shorting. Set the meter to ohms, and touch the wire and ground. The resistance should be high. If it's low (less then hundreds of ohms) you have a short. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
