I installed a Pioneer 750 amp and 2 JBL 10's into a 2001 Jaguar. Everything was easy to get to because the battery was in the trunk and the back lid speakers are subs and have their own amp and crossover. The only problem is where do I run the remote wire from. I tried wiring it to the radio fuse ( even fuse box in the trunk) and also the ignition fuse but both left the amp on even when the car was off. I really don't want to mess anything up on my friends car so any help you can be would be great.

This vehicle most likely uses negative accessory and switched 12 volt wires which is why you have not been able to get the right connection for the amp's turn on. You'll need to tap in to an accessory or switched wire and then convert the extra wire into a positive wire using a SPDT Bosch type automotive relay.

And as always, make sure all connections are verified with a digital multimeter beforehand.

If your Jag is an S-type, there is a remote on lead in the harness for the rear deck subs. Disconnect the harness (located on the left side upper corner as you face the open trunk) and use a multimeter to test for voltage. You shuld have six (I think) wires in the connector that are contatnt power, ground, switched power, shield, signal left and signal right. Test the connector with the key off, and then turn the key on and see which one changes from "off" to +12V. This is your switched hot and can be tapped into for your amps.

If it's an S-type you don't have to worry about negative accessory wiring. S-type Jag is a Ford underneath (actually, a Lincoln LS.) If it's not an S-type, then I can't help you!

Hello all,I had a remote wire from the head unit go bad. Being lazy coupled with the fact that the head unit is tough to get out, I jumpered the remote from the other amp(I have 2, one for the doors and one for the subs). Will I experience any problems with this setup? Seems to work fine right now.

my quest is if the remote wire went out, then how are the amps turning on and off. If you jumped from the other amp, then how is it being controlled.

that should be fine (irontrain)

as long as you dont add more without a relay, If i was running 3 amps i would use a relay just to be safe but for 2 it dont really matter.
