I just bought a rockford fosgate HE2 12" sub in a sealed box.  I got a great deal on it.  I was wondering what amp do I want to power this and how much power do I need to get a good sound?

I would suggest in between 400 and 500 watts. But how much are you looking to spend on the amp?

i would like to keep the price down, but I would like a decent amp.  I might spend up to $600.  But I would like the best one for the best price.

You want 400 to 500 watts but you're willing to spend up to 600?  lol $600 will get you a lot more than 500 watts RMS.

Anyways, I'd recommend trying to get your hands on a JBL BP600.1. It'll give you 600 watts RMS and is 1 and 2 ohm stable.  Also, you can probably find it for less than $300.  They're really sweet bass amps, but I think they've stopped making them so it might be hard to find.

Also I forgot to ask....do you have the HE2 with 2-ohm voice coils?  Or are the voice coils 4-ohms each?  Since the JBL amp is 1 ohm stable, it wouldn't really matter which version of the HE2 you have. But for most amps it will make a very big difference in what you'd have to look for and how much money you'd have to spend.

I believe the Punch HE2 only comes in a 4ohm model (RFP3212), so you would only be able to go down as low as 2ohms with only one of them. It's 400RMS 800Peak.
If you're willing to part with more $'s just to stick with RF, the Power 500bd is a great amp. It's 500 x 1 @ 2ohms. But like I said, you'll be paying for the name.
I've seen the JBL BP600.1 recommended many times, and at 600 x 1 @ 1 and 2 ohms it would give you more then enough power

if it has a dual 4, you can actually run a two channel- one channel to each voice coil. I have a Logic 1220 amp pushing 2 2000 subs in a slot ported box, and they hit. Needs more power though.  It produces 300X2@4ohm and 610x2@2ohms. I have them for $169 delivered.

If you're referring to Independant Wiring of the voice coils it's Not Recommended, even though it is possible to do. You can read more on it here.

If you're willing to spend that much go ahead and grab one of the power acoustik stealth models and make it look real pretty.

I don't know what are the experiences that others have had with the amp below but I have the DT-800 and it drives harder than a comparable priced rockford.
