Would a fancy scanner deter theifs. I would think those scanners would attract a theif than deter. Opinion?

I think that if your car has been targeted by a thief, a scanner will do little as far as a deterent. A scanner will work against a novice thief but someone who know what theyare doing will not stop them from at least trying.

I remember when I was like 16 or 17, the first time I ever saw a car with led scanners. I was like "ooooh, wow!" and "geeez, that car must have a thousand dollar alarm" But now, I know better. And I'm sure that thieves think the same way. A lot of people that have scanners dont even have alarms, and most thieves know this, so they will at least hit yer car to see if the shock sensor sets off yer alarm. Bottom line, scanners are good for nothing more than looking pretty, thats it.

i think more leds/scanners attract unwanted attention....i had a superbright blue led in each door top...i found kids/dirtbags would be drawn to the car and peer in ...now i have just a red dash led, most people ignore it

I unhooked the extra leds that steveo29 had too. Mine were green and the normal red on the center console.  Attracted unwanted attention, and was made fun of - "christmas lights" ...har har.   One is good enough.  Scanners are for show.  and then they have those varad ones that you can stick in your headlights/taillights-SHOW.  I say... "whatever floats your boat."
