I have installed the Clarion VX815 (in dash monitor/cd player) in my 03 Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel.  Everytime the truck is turned off the unit loses all memory or wallpaper and goes through a self test.  You have to turn the power back on for it to activate but it keeps the radio presets.  I asked a local audio installer and they said it will not work with the truck because the diesel takes longer to crank.  But, if you turn the ignition on, reset the unit, and then crank the motor it does not reset and go through its self test.  Does anyone have any experience with the Clarion unit in a diesel?  If so, any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Greg Baker

Sounds like a problem with the constant 12 volt wire, does your truck have 2 batteries under the hood? If so try connecting the constant 12 volt source to the secondary battery (not the starting battery) also I know that some of the older Clarion models came with 2 Constant 12 volt wires, make sure your unit doesn't have 2 yellow wires and only 1 is hooked up.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder"

Yes, my truck has two batteries.  I will try that.  Thanks for your help.
