PIE vs PAC Adapters for 2002 Silverado

Well, I can't leave well enough alone, so I have ordered a Satellite Radio setup. I want to stay away from the FM modulation and would prefer to not use the tape deck. I have found 2 different adapters that I think will (maybe) add a set of RCA jacks to my system and want to know if anyone can say yea or nay. First, my system is the factory head unit with a slave cassette. I added a USA CD changer which hooked up in-between the slave cassette and the head unit and the head unit controls the changer. Works pretty well for factory. I have seen 2 different adapters. The first is a P.I.E. GM9-AUX which hooks inline like the CD changer. The CD/Aux button is supposed to control this unit, but there would now be 3 slaves. Will this work? I like the idea of the head unit still controlling all functions, but am concerned it will just wig out or only see 2 of the 3. The second is a PAC AAI-GM9 which also hooks up inline, but has a toggle switch to select which of the 3 inputs (2 RCA and the one Slave) you want. This unit requires a slave because it basically changes the input when the head unit is in the tape mode (I think). Has anyone done an install (DVD, Sat Radio, MP3, anything with RCA input) like this using either of these adapters when a CD changer and Cassetter were present? I am not familar with the USA CD changer. I assume it hooks to the factory wiring from what you stated, and acts like another slave. I have used the P.I.E. GM9-AUX , works good but it says in the notes For proper operation of the GM9-AUX, the factory CD changer, if present, will need to be disconnected from the factory harness. So this will not work if you want to keep functionality of the cd changer. The PAC AAI-GM9 will allow you to switch from your slaves to the RCAs, and work properly. It will act like you have it now, and then switch to the configuration like the GM9-AUX when the toggle is flipped. mark

Ron, Thanks for the info and you confirmed what I was afraid of. Oh, well, what's one more switch. I guess I will order the PAC and I have a 12 to 6 volt converter on the way as well. Soon, no wires. My son loves pulling out the power plug and egecting the cassette too much. He's 2, but knows which key goes in the ignition. Got to watch him as his favorite toy is my truck.
