i want to get those ultra bright white light bulbs for my headlights. my owners manual to the car says dont put in anything in as a diff wattage. apc makes a 9005 and 9004 for high and low beams they take 5 watts more than what they car has and says it should have. can i use a higher wattage bulb as long as its only 5 watts more?

it really depends on the car-make. i've heard of nissan altimas melting harnesses using those nokya arctic white bulbs (which use 80 watts compared to the stock 55 watts), while many hondas (including my brother's civic) use the same bulbs without any problems.
those are the only car manufacturers i've dealt with, so i don't know about others.
by the way, what kind of light output are you looking for? are you trying to get that blue tinted look, or do you want true white light? i have sylvania silverstars in my altima, and i think those lights are pretty white. i've also heard great reviews about PIAA platinum super whites, but those ones are a bit pricey.
well, thats my 2 cents.

less than 1/2 an amp extra draw of 5 watts, dont worry about it, not enough to do any dammage.
