I'm thinking of getting the 6.5" Alpine Type R Components and need to know what people think of them or would recommend something for in the same price range

boston rally series components, or a set of the lower end mb quart.  I really like the accuarcy on the boston tweeter though.  Not harsh at all, with a strong mid bass.  Maybe even consider upgrading to the pro-series from boston.  a little more pricy, but absoultly kick ass.

I had last years modle typr r 6.5 components (the blue cone)...they were sweet...they even pushed an exteme amount of bass...especially for the pirce, great deal....only down side it that their magnet is SO BIG that you might have probelms fitting them into any factory location...I ran mine with 100WRMS and they sounded excellent, only reason why i got rid of them is cause i got the alpine flagship 3 ways cause i redesigned the interior of my car to bring the sound stage forward.

haha...SkyRyder...you follow me well :)

Truth is I do push alpine...there head units are golden and their speakers are worth more that you pay for them, well at my prices anyways....I do have a diss for alpine though...I hate their amps, they are made in a different factory to the rest of their hardware, and it shows...

Well i got my Type-R's and installed them.  They were a little bright, but if you change the crossovers to -6db instead of the 0db they start with they sound good.  Tweeter crisp, and the driver pushes decent bass for 6.5's.  I would recomend them, but watch out.  They have a huge magnet.  They might (and i would say probably) will not fit without a spacer or a custom panel.  they actually are 6 and 3/4 and need about 2 3/4 inches of space for the magnet!
