Was just curious as to what people think is good music for excellent sq. I would guess some classical or jazz but would love to hear some input and recommendations for some good cd's to have. Also, what do they play at competitions?? Never been to one so have no idea what the judges go by to rate systems.

I guess it really depends on your opinion, many songs can sound "high quality" or the best they can on a nice system.  It's up to you if you like it.

Robin Ford's album "talk to your daughter" is mentioned in the magazines (it's blues/rock, very very good stuff if you're into that)

Al Jarreau's "tomorrow/today", Sade "Lover's Rock", Lenny Kravitz "Lenny" and the new 50 Cent is good, if you like rap...

STP Core is a good rock album

Most Korn will work your system hard and is recorded well... hmmm....

Newer Tool...

Newer Sevendust

That's just some stuff off the top of my head.

:O)

turn to your college radio station...thats what i have here- plays pop/alt. music..like good charlette, all american rejects, blue october, EVE6, American HI-Fi, Evanessence-spelling is wrong..., Green Day- Brain Stew : godzilla version, Lit, Matchbox 20, Metallica, korn, Offspring, smile empty soul-bottom of a bottle, venaculas, And my FAVORITE : SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

System of a Down is a kick @$$ band that uses a good selection of sounds in their music.

What cd did you use to Set-up your system for sound Quality??

I would recommend The David Navone Autosound

But a good one is The EAGLES hell freezes over, It's produced very well.

I set up with Annie Lennox's Diva album. Tracks 2 and 6, they have high's, low's, and a lot of mid and it is recorded well. This cd never makes it into my car it stays in the toolbox.

This was mainly for myself. Its just nice to have something that shows off a systems overall sq and seems like finding some good quality cd's are hard to find at times. I listen to mainly rock/metal, but on occasion i will put in some rap or r & b, even have some classical that is excellent for sq. Some of the betters one i have for sq are some tracks off the David Lee Roth Skyscraper cd, Tantric, Evanescence, esp the slow tracks on that one, uuummmm, Im a huge Metallica fan but the new one sounds like serious ass on my system compared to the Sandman cd, also like Korn but again, not much for sq wise. The installer that did my system was very fond of the old Bachbusters cd i have, even made him some copies for his store. Anyother suggestions??
