Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has come accross a inexpensive digital volt meter.  Basically I would just require the 3 7 segment LED display.  What im thinking of is very similar to a cap's digital display.  I want to wire it up and mount in dash.    I have looked for electronic kits but find them to be way too expensive for what they are.

Anyone have an idea where i can get one?

Thanks

Phill

all it is is 3 character 7 segment LED display that reads .1 to 20.0 volts and displays it.  Its does not need to be in a box,  just the circut board with the LEDs,  I will be mounting somewhere either in the dash or off the rear view mirror.  Let me know if you can help

Hi Tom

Thanks for the reply.  The link didnt work but checked out Digi-Key site and found what you were refering to.  It is exactly what im looking for.  It lists a few different available but the cost was a little high.   I have experience in electronics and am thinking of building one myself.  But unable to locate a schematic for it.  Maybe you could help there

Im in Canada so would like to spend $30.00 CND at most for the device.  I dont know if it is possible to create at that price or purchase.  I did find a Coleman PowerMate Digitalvolt Meter PMV8040 which would be perfect but cant find in Canada.  Most places will either not ship here or the cost far outweighs the cost of the part.  If anyone can help me with it I would apreciate it.  I have see the price for the Coleman at about $11-16.

I believe dakota digital makes vft displays for streetrods, there awesome but cost a few dollars,  Awesome displays (the VFT is vacuum flourecent display like the high end eclipse head units used to have0  they are also unaffected by cold temperatures in comparison to the liquid crystal displays.

Check out http://www.dakotadigital.com

also look at jegs for autometer, cyberdyne and ultragage displays

http://www.harborfreight.com  but what they have fro $3.99 is a digital multi-meter.  i guess you could take it apart and use what you need.
