Kinda redundant for 2 posts in a row about the same damn wires. I am using RCA cables that have plugs that are metal. My question is do I have to worry if the barrel parts touch will it matter? I wouldn't think that it would because if it did I wouldn't think that they would make 'em out of metal? I know that the ends can't touch but just wonder about the barrel. The only place I am worried about is at my head unit since it's RCA outputs aren't like an amp. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

no, you need not worry about them touching...I use monster cable RCAs with gold plated terminals and they occaisionally touch while I am messing with things and it does not create any problems...

RCA cables have 2 wires per channel, and through the connections to the headunit, a AC voltage is ran through them, just as in speaker wires. And if you are talking about the same thing that I am thinking of it can make a difference and actually blow your RCA outputs on your CD player.
This would be in the case that you are referring to the metal part which surrounds the nipple of the RCA, and not the actual outter housing where you would grab.
Hopefully that is clear enough to understand.

I am referring to the outer housing, i know the part that surrounds the nipple would be bad, just worried about the barrel.

Yes it does affect the system. It could damage the head unit and it does for sure induce crackling and unwanted noise into the system it left dangling or grounded.
