Hi, I recently purchased and installed a new Hornet 553T remote start alarm. My insurance company offers a discount for cars that have alarms that passively arm. I'm supposed to mail or fax them a "certificate" as proof of purchase of the alarm. However, my alarm came with an installation guide and an owner's guide but no certificate. Does anyone else have this alarm? Did yours come with a certificate?

-Thanks

Who do you have insurance through? I am curious because I have never found a company that gave discounts for anyalarms or features. That sounds pretty stupid though of them to give a discount for the alarm to have a passively arming feature, since you can program the unit to NOT passively arm.

My auto insurance is through Allstate. I may have made a mistake about the passively arming feature. The alarm discount is under the "Anti-Theft Device Discount".

I will have to see if they will accept a copy of the receipt and page(s) of the owner's guide as proof that my car has an alarm.

Yes you get discounts for a passive system on most insurance agencies when you have full coverage on a vehicle. It's minimum but anything is better than nothing.

I got a discount with state farm for an anti theft device.(Alarm, column lock, AND a detachable steering wheel)They said I can only get one discount, no matter how many anti theft devices I have. But my discount wasn't even a whole two bucks a month! Oh well.......
