I have read a lot of the posts here, so many in fact that I am going cross eyed!Head unit stays on for about 1 minute -- posted image. Anyway, I have a "97 Neon and just bought a new head unit, the Eclipse 8051. This is a new ball game for me because of it does not have an internal amp. I have the head unit hooked to the front and sub amps but the darn thing does not shut off when I take the keys out of the ignition!!! I stays on for about a minute and then shuts off. I have asked around and have found that this is an inherent problem with Chrysler products. Chrysler seems to leave the wires "charged" for a little while after the ignition is turned off like there is a capacitor hooked to the ACC power wire (if this is the case, does anyone know where it is?). I thought I was going nuts but a few of the people that I talked to compete and suggested that when I turn the car off to just pull the wiper control arm back, like I was going to spray the windshield, until the radio shuts down. This works in shutting down the radio but I was wanting to know if there was something better? I was told this is going to happen because this head unit draws very little current. As a mater of fact, the place that I got the head unit had an installer that has a Neon with an Eclipse head unit and his also stays on but only for about 35 seconds. I reinstalled both my factory head unit and the Kenwood head unit that the Eclipse is replacing and they both shut down immediately. I have checked all of the connections with my DMM and it shows the factory and the Kenwood both drain the power very fast but the Eclipse drains the power very slowly. Here is what I get, The factory head and the Kenwood both drop the power voltage down to 4.5 volts and then almost 0 when I shut the car off. The Eclipse drops about 0.1 volts per second and does not turn off till 8.4 volts. Any idea's? Please!

I was just wondering...could I use a resistor on the ACC power wire connecting one end to the ACC power wire and the other end to a ground? If so, what would the value of the resistor be?

Have you tried installing it to another ignition wire other than the radio one ? Try the DARK BLUE wire at the steering column and see if this wire acts the same.

Can you still roll up your windows also if equipped. Alot of newer Chrysler products stay on for a bit or untill you open the driver door.Head unit stays on for about 1 minute -- posted image.

No, this one doesn't have the power windows. I bought it just to put a system in it and to drive to work. I now wish I had the power windows because I am getting ready to glass the door pods and the $#@* window crank is in the way. The wife didn't want me digging in our "01 Dakota 4 dr 4X4 and I wanted to build another system. The truck would have made for an awesome platform to build on, but, you know how the wife/boss can be!Head unit stays on for about 1 minute -- posted image. Anyway, she said if I want to build a system it would have to go in another car. She gave me a free runway with the system...ANYTHING GOES!!!!Head unit stays on for about 1 minute -- posted image.
