Just wanted throw a question to everyone here....what do you think is the average life span of your systems since you've been into car audio? Has more experience extended the life span because of proper installation and set-up, or less because you just want something better?

as long as you buy the right equipment, then your system will last as long as its comp[onents.  ive had all my sony components for a long time and the only reason it has never not worked is because of wiring problems, or the alternator going dead.  you prolly need a good battery too

Stereo equipment is kind of like a car. If you get reliable equipment and you don’t abuse it, then you will get years of listening pleasure.

wow dude, cuttin on sony is real cool.  maybe if you have thousands of dollars to spend on one speaker.  dollar for dollar i bet system is better than yours so chill wit the cuts because sony is a really good product.  a stereo dealership around my area thought they were almighty and thought that sony sucked.  they told me when i went in the store that they had things of much "higher quality" and laughed at me when i told them i had a system that was better than their's dollar for dollar.  they promised me that if mine was better they would start selling sony.  we compared prices and dB's.  my chevy astro went against a gmc jimmy with the same number of speakers and amps, and dollar for dollar i won.  the jimmy had more dB's than me, but my sh*t was a hell of a lot cheaper and was only 5 dB's off.  o yea, and ive had my sh*t for almost a year now, and has ANYTHING ever failed me?  not once.  unless you count the alternator, which, by the way, isnt sony.Your system’s life span - Last Post -- posted image.  anything else to say?

I'll take that bet, ricer. By the way I have had the same system for over three years, it consists of Kenwood Excelon and Rockford Fosgate. And by the way how loud you can get has nothing to do with the quality of equiptment, I once saw 12 factory 4 inch speakers hit a 140.

I installed a system once in my buddies car.....his girlfriend bought him some cheap sony equipment, (a "1000" watt amp and 10" sub).  Within 2 months the sub had been replaced twice and the amp blew after 3 1/2.....good quality stuff.  As for me, I had an Orion Cobalt setup for about 2 years, never once had a problem with it.  I recently upgraded to a new Eclipse Aluminum 12" DVC sub, and a JBL 600.1 amp.  Ive had them for about 2 months now, so far no problems....

I've been running my current RF setup for about 6 months now. My old RF setup was ran for several years, and was replaced only because I wanted more. My next upgrade will be due to the same, wanting more and higher quality.
Don't kid yourself 2f2f4ewa, Sony does make excellent home audio equipment. But when it comes to car audio their seriously lacking in quality and reliability. You may have a good setup, but a majority of the Sony owners out there are having (or have had) problems with their equipment. When a majority of the owners have problems, that constitutes a lack of quality and reliability. No one gets knocked if that's all they can afford. Where people get knocked is when they say that the quality and reliability of Sony car audio equipment is equal to brands like Eclipse, Diamond, MB Quart, etc...
Like your sig. says, "It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile...winning's winning". You may have paid less then the other guy for your equipment, but you still lost by 5db's. Do you know how much is required for a 5db gain? Do yourself a favor and read some of the past posts on the subject. Education is a wonderful thing, and everyone here is available to help.

by the way, we sell pioneers at the shop i work at for the same price as the sony speakers and they are considerably better.  full ranges and woofers, also with the amps we've heard they never ever actually run at there rated power something else to think about.
