I got caught for not being a certified starter installer and i need to become certified by the ministry of vehicle safety or something along those lines.  Im just unshure of what will happen, do i need to take a test and pass it, thats it and all or is there more to it?  Any tips, hints, and advice would be appreciated.

Oh and this is for Ontario, Canada, , but im shure its kinda the same elsewhere.

I have no idea about what you are talking about. I have never heard of any type of government certification here in the US. The only certification that I know about, at least industry recognized,is MECP.

We don't have anything set out here in Manitoba for certification. Even if there was, it's not triple bypass heart surgery or anything. Contact the government branch that deals with this and ask them about it. They will probably have the most accurate information ( as well as updated ) than anyone else.

whell, it has to do with the vehicle safety act.  They want all people installing aftermarket devices to have a certification in automotive electronics. They mentioned something about needing 2000 hours of apprentiseship before i can take the test, but i have only been installing for 4 months, know a heck of a lot more than the other installers.  I don't plan on making it a career, , just to make money so i can go to school next year.  Oh whell, i'll just guess on this thingy, haha

I work at Electronic Universe, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

All the installers at my work have to go do this test thingy, , they gave us a pamplet saying the "bill" came into act in 1999.    I think a government nerd was probably pissed because we didn't give them a deal on a tv or something, so they decided to get pissy.

That's suck. I know that in Ontario you have to be a certified Mechanic to do Remote Starter. Too bad for you guy... That will never happen in BC. hahahaha
