I have a peice of crap amp laying around that is like 200 watts max and i was wondering if its possible to wire it into my bedroom and use it to power my house stereo speakers?

Is it possible? Yes. Is it a good idea? No. The cost of a 12V DC power supply capable of continuous 30 amps to drive your amp is probably more than the cost of buying an amplifier or receiver designed to run off household voltage. In general, using automotive amplifiers or receivers in the house results in disapointment and potentially in burning down your house.

Actually it is possible. Although you will lose the clarity and performance that you would get from an equivalent home amp.. But if you can afford the money you can buy 110/12v AC-DC converters but they are extremely pricey. Or you can go to a computer swap meet and find a power supply. They run @ 12 volts and some can output 12 volts @ 20 or so amps. If you get real technical you might even be able to wire two up @ the same time to combine the amperage.

I've even seen some kids use a car battery to power there amp and deck in the house and they charged it periodicly. However, this method is strongly discouraged. Not only might leaky sulfuric acid burn through the carpet and floorboard, but conventional batteries are vented, when the get warm or hot, they will vent these wonderful sulfuric acid fumes into the room, if you breath it, it's dangerous, if a spark or flame comes too close, that could be one heck of a bonfire!
