how to get that nice neat fiberglass edge?

I need to know how to get that nice neat edge when doing a fiberglass mold in a trunk, or interior.  For example, I'm sure you've all seen the Alpine Civic.  All their panels are nice and neat around the edge, and there are no gaps between the glass and the weather stripping.  I can do decent molds, but the edges are coming out kinda rough, with slight gaps.  I usually tuck the fleece that i use under the weather stripping to hold it while applying polyester resin.  Anybody have a link to their own or someone else's good how-to website?  thanks

When i make a mold i use hot glue to secure the fleece to the mold, then after i soak the fleece i sand the fleece part around where the edge of the mold was (now covered by the fleece) untill it kinda cuts the part off so you can peel off the fleece with the hotglue on it. i dont know if this is a good explanation, if it isnt tell me and ill try a little better.dream it, build it, fiberglass it

If all you are worried about is cosmetics you can use bondo, kitty hair(fiberglass reinforced bondo), or more fiberglass to fill in the gaps. Certified Security Specialist

i use the Fishman bendy wood for the edges where possible, it will bend a perfect radius and will match up with most round surfaces, other than that do what the other guys said

yesterday i found out a new great way to get a good clean flush edge. When the box is almost to a point of being ready to be primed put it in the place it was molded to and where you want that nice edge put one layer of tin foil between it and the box. Then use gloves and apply bondo or fiberfill (stronger) with your fingers in that crease spot. Make sure to really push the bondo in there to get it all up in the crack. lol. I did this the other day where i had to boxes going together but not connected and it works great.dream it, build it, fiberglass it

i only noticed one thing about this.... and really it looks good, but - am i mistaken, or is that on top of your dash?  i'm not sure what the laws are in other states, but - the general rule of thumb (actually, it is the law here in california, though i doubt it's federal, since i see people with window tint in other states and apparently it's totally legal where they come from to tint side windows, etc) is - anything that comes up above the dash, or below the visors (i.e. anything - and i mean anything.... aftermarket hood scoops higher than the stock hood, etc) will get you a ticket here - it's an obstruction / distraction of your view.  i know it's probably stupid, and your stereo isn't blocking your view - but i know if i was driving in california with something like that, it would surely fetch you a ticket if any cop noticed it like - at a sobriety check point or at night where they could see it's lights of the stereo since the stereo is high enough to be seen easily.   dunno if you've thought about it or not..... but - have you thought about taking what you've got now, shrinking the height of it just a touch, then motorizing the whole thing where when you shut the car off, the thing drops down into the dash flush?  adds another level of security if nothing else.
