What is the best Security system for the lowest amount.  I want to put in a security system in the next year or so and was wondering what brand or what should I look for in a system?

I always laugh when people want the BEST security system to protect their investment but only want to spend the least possible amount. How much is your car worth ? How much is your stereo equipment worth ? How much are your modifications you've done to the car worth ? Take all this into account and you want to protect it with " the best " system available for the cheapest $$$ ?

I don't want to sound like a typical salesman, but your investment is only going to stay your investment with a security system that you should not be concerned with the cost of, rather the installation. Look for reputable companies that have been in the business for years ( not those eBay systems that cost you $ 89.00 for  everything ). They can be good........ but I would NEVER put one of those on my car. Companies that come to mind is Alpine, Viper, and Code Alarm. The unit is only as good as the installation and the proper precautions that you take in order to make the theft of the vehicle take longer than necessary. Time is a thieves worst enemy and if it take too long for them to disable an alarm system, they will not bother. If they are too busy disabling your alarm, they are not stealing anything of yours.
