Hi, The range on my remote start has diminished from 1/4 mile to about 50 feet...Could the remote be bad?

Thanks,

Dave

Change the battery as a starter. Explain what else has changed since the last time.

You will need to test the unit now from where you are, and get a base line as to how far it will transmit.
Then move the vehicle 10 feet each time, untill it stops responding.
Let me know how far you get.

LOL, I was wondering what you meant by that. Why are you not testing the unit yourself?
You should be aware that regardless of the transmitting carrier.
ie. AM-FM
That the distance you obtain on a daily basis will waver due to weather, terrain, building structure, RFI & EMI interference, and orientation of the vehicle.
The basics of power output are pretty much out of your control, but ensuring a consistent battery voltage for the RX & TX units will provide the most consistent range overall.
Also, if you press the remote (RX) unit up to your chin, this will also increase the range from 10-50 feet.
Just so you keep that in mind.
