ok I am having some problems. When I remote start the car turns on as if the key were in the acc position then turns off and unlocks the doors.  I have about 2 volts comming from the tach, all wires on the key cylinder are correct, The third ignition wire is running to the PLDATA, I have grounded out the neutral switch.......I have no clue what to do now. any ideas?

Craig thank you sooooo much would never be this far if it was not for you!!!!!!

Thanxs

I just finished installing a RS its a Valet 554R on an 03 Grand Am GT1 and car starts great, but after I put in the key and hit the break pedal, and hit the defroster button it sets off the aftermarket alarm. It also does it if I push the button when driving down the road as well.  Does anyone know why this is???? do I need to isolate somthing.  Does anyone have any ideas???

Thanxs

Hey Alan, before you get into the car, do you unlock with the remote to disarm the alarm system ? Sounds wierd that you can get into the car and everything, and the car is still armed ??

I am not an expert but to me sounds like the remote start isn't disabling the alarm? Or better yet, it is disabling it but when the RS shuts down instead of just re-enabling it, getting some feedback in there.  Just an idea I have from reading other posts and such.

Jeff I am clicking the unlock button on the 554R remote. I did not connect the status wire from the RS to the  drivers door trigger since I do not believe it has RDS. But its not the factory alarm thats triggering its the aftermarket alarm. ass soon as I turn back off the defroster the siren stops.....I dont know!!!!

That's wierd !! Once you unlock the system, it SHOULD disarm the Valet alarm. What does your disgnostics tell you that set off the alarm  ??

Jeff

Not sure when it sets off the siren I dont know that it is actually setting off the alarm since the brain is not paging the remote and the led's do not indicate that it was triggered by anything I am guessing that a wire got mixed up while hooking up the system.........I think this is somthing that I am just going to need to investigate to fix it......does anyone know how to wire up the trunk release relay? like which wire goes to which pin?.....also if and when I get this defroster problem fixed does anyone know how to hook up the defroster output from the 554R. DEI shows that it has a designated output but there is nothing in the manual to tell how to do this????

Thanxs

Alan
